Principals Report Week 4 Term 4
Dear Parents and Carers
Staffing News
Mr Read’s Appointment
I would like to announce that Mr Rob Read has been successful in a position as classroom support teacher at St John’s Florey commencing in 2026. I congratulate Mr Read on this appointment and wish him well as he continues his career path as a Classroom Support Teacher in Catholic Education. You may be aware that Mr Read has acted in this position at Rosary in 2025, supporting our students, their families and staff involved in the Classroom Support Program.
Mrs Meg Millband will return to her position as Classroom Support Teacher at Rosary in 2026, following her 12 months leave.
Mr Read and Mrs Millband will both be available to assist in planning for student transitions for the 2026 year, including our new students for Kindergarten next year. New Kinders will have their Kindergarten Orientation sessions very shortly.
We will have an opportunity to farewell Mr Read towards the end of the term and thank him for his contributions to Rosary School over the past 4 years.
New Classroom Support Assistants join our team
We also have three new Classroom Support Assistants who have joined our staff for Term 4. Welcome to Mikayla Kemp, Maria Sanchez-Worsnop, Sylwia Ward. They will be working to support students across the school.
STUDENT as PRINCIPAL for a Day!
Yesterday we were able to celebrate our great colour run fundraiser with the ‘Student as Principal for a Day!’ It was a really enjoyable day. The student randomly drawn from our sponsorship cards to be our Principal for a Day was Zac Anderson-Rule from Year 4 London.
Zac was an amazing principal and met the school community at morning assembly and announced some new and fun activities for the day. The activities included:
- Uniform Free Day
- Extra play at recess time
- Being allowed to play on the oval at recess (Yrs 2-6) and novelty games on the junior playground (K,1)
- Bring a small toy or soft toy to school
- Board game or card game session in class
- More ‘brain breaks’ in school time
- Handball and ping pong competitions at lunch time
- A ‘zooper dooper’ ice block treat
Zac also visited all classes and gave our principal stickers for the good work that he saw.
Zac also introduced a new student to Rosary named ‘Greg.’ Greg wasn’t sure which class he should be in so he went around during the day to try all of the classes to work with them and also play at recess and lunch with lots of students. He made lots of new friends at Rosary and said it was a lovely school!

2026 Kindergarten Orientation Sessions Coming Up
Our first 2026 Kindergarten orientation session is next Thursday 13 November from 9.30am - 11.00am. During this first session, new students will spend time in Kindergarten and the parents and carers participate in an introductory parent session in the school library.
The second Kindergarten orientation session is scheduled for Thursday 20 November (Week 6) from 9:30am to 11.00am.
We look forward to welcoming our new Kindergarten students and their families as they begin their journey at Rosary School - which gets a little closer during orientation.
Rosary Student Wins ACT Tennis League Tournament
This week we shared this news at a morning assembly. Zachary Lim (5 Casablanca) had great success in a recent tennis tournament. Zach and his team/club (Campbell Tennis Club) won the finals of the Tennis ACT Junior Canberra Tennis League (Spring 2025 - Green Ball Division 2 comp) after an 8-week (8-round) long competition against other tennis clubs in the ACT.
On match day, Zachary and team won all their singles and doubles matches to win the Div 2 comp with an impressive 29 points against their opponent (Queanbeyan Park Tennis Club’s) 13 points.
Congratulations to Zac and his team! What an achievement.

Students Leaving Rosary Primary School - Please advise the school
If your child is leaving Rosary School at the end of this year and will attend a different school in 2026, please advise the school office in writing of your decision - with the exception of our current Year 6 cohort. We are required to document student movement to new schools.
Rosary has students on a waiting list for places in most year levels, so we appreciate the notification of your child leaving.
At the end of the year we will farewell our leaving students and wish them well.

Unexplained absences for your child will be displayed on your homepage when you log in to Parent Portal.
If an unexplained absence appears that you believe to be incorrect, please send an email to the front office for investigation.
Access to the clothing pool will now be as follows:

The Rosary School Canteen is open Tuesday through Friday for lunch orders and counter sales at recess and lunch. The menu is attached for your referene.
Orders can be placed online through Flexischools (orders close before school) or written on a brown paper bag with cash enclosed. Manual orders need to include your childs name, class and order and can be posted through the canteen "mail chute" located near the table tennis tables before school.
Just a few reminders about the car parking and drop off / pick up arrangements:
- The speed limit is 5 km/hr in the car park and all road rules apply.
- Pedestrians always have the right of way.
- Park only in the designated parking spaces, facing forwards towards the university.
- The white markings relate to traffic flow and parking (coloured markings relate to the children’s playing spaces.)
- The area closest to the Peace Gates is reserved for Set Down Only in the mornings. Parents can stop in the marked bays long enough for children to alight from the vehicle on the quadrangle side and then enter the school through the Peace Gates.
- For pedestrian safety there is no parking or stopping against kerb near Peace Gates after school.
- Please note that no reversing is allowed from the bays marked on the courts.
- Please follow the white arrows and drive in and drive out again in a forward direction only. This is to reduce the risk to children who cannot be seen by reversing vehicles.
- Due to the spacing of the bays, parallel parking is only available in the area adjacent to the shade shelter on the oval. This area should be used by larger vehicles and trucks wherever possible.
- Parallel parking is not available adjacent to the university grounds as this space is needed for vehicles to exit the parking area in a forward direction.
- Parking on the courts is not permitted between 9:15am and 2:45pm as they are used for play at recess and lunch and by classes for sport throughout the day.
- There is ‘Long Stay’ parking available in front of the hall for parents who spend time at the school after 9:00am. (This is the only area in which reversing to exit is permitted.) This ensures that the courts area is free for classes to use for sports lessons.
- After school, some parents may need to see teachers or the front office staff. If this is the case, please leave your cars outside in the bus bay or behind the hall on Higginbotham Street as the gates are locked at 3:30pm.
- All students travelling home by car are to wait in the quad until collected by a parent/carer.
- Parents waiting for their children after school are asked to move well into the quad to assist access.
- When children arrive at school, they are to enter via the Peace Gates in the quadrangle. Children are not to enter through the front office foyer. Likewise, children are not to leave through the front office at the end of the day unless catching a route bus.
- No child is to meet a parent/carer anywhere other than the quadrangle area at the end of school.
- The children must be supervised in the car park – they are not permitted to go to a parked vehicle without a parent/carer with them.
